Darena is a visual artist and a current PhD student in Graphic arts in the Academy of Fine arts in Sofia. She explores intersections between the natural and the digital and between the human and their surrounding environment. Working often with patterns and all-over plant based compositions, she creates images that aim to attract the viewer's eye to the detail which begins to stand out only after a scrutiny of the flatness, underlining that what we see is not always what there is. Some of her latest participations include - Invisible cities, Sofia underground – international performance festival, public space interventions in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, 2019, open studios exhibitions in Night of museums and galleries Plovdiv, 2019, open studio exhibition BITS in a former electrical plant, South industrial zone, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, 2019, pop-up show "Take care", Gallery 240, GoggleWorks Center for the Arts, Reading, PA, USA, 2018, Water Tower Art Residency results exhibition, Despred Halls, Sofia, Bulgaria, 2018, group exhibition "From project to object part II", Bulgarian Cultural Institute, Berlin, Germany, 2017 and a solo exhibition “Forms of life”, A+ Gallery, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, 2016.
