Maria is a second-year MFA candidate in the Performance Department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. As a multidisciplinary artist, she works mainly in performance, installation, video, and painting and drawing.
A spectator of different societies, not belonging to any of them, Maria reflects on the aspects of all kinds of interpersonal connections, the relationship between the group and individual, and the place of the spectator in a work. The viewer can experience a sense of the fragility and awkwardness of people’s relations, self-sacrifice as a price for belonging, and freedom and loss when left by oneself.
