Tales from a Super Predator

I dream like KingAll I want is freedom and
Opportunity
But because we are black
We are not promised the same things
A normal life I cannot lead
News reports say my brothers and sisters
Bleed
They pull out their guns
So we are forced to flee
The color of my skin
Tells the system one thing
And that is
To damn me
We are dammed beings
From across the seas
The way we are portrayed in
These streets are
Black beasts
So they don’t stop to look at us
Like human beings
They pull out their tasers
To cripple our knees
They gather together and
Break spines
Ignoring pleas
They shoot 6 times
Then pop another 10
Surprising the world
By not loading another clip
We have been through
Pitchforks
Crosses burning
A league of white
And a klan that continues growing
Running from mobs
Being forced from
Moms
I guess I have
Unique opportunities
After all
A one way ticket
To jail
Not being able
To post bail
Keeping me inside of
That cell
Without fail
Yet my faith is as strong
As a strong and
Tall as a tree
They dogged us
Hosed us and jumped
Us in crowds
But we still standing
Proud
Mass incarceration is the
Latest Statement
Idk about you
But I’m tired of
Being tossed against the
Pavement
Because a quota goal
Keeps cops impatient
I now feel like I’m
Out of placement
18 years
Without being tossed away
Like a piece of paper
I hope you understand why
Truly why I’m so angered
A young poet
Inspired by Langston Hughes
Just want people to feel what I’m saying
Like Drake on Views
I am doing something important
So do not look amused
I’m short tempered
Like a fuse
If you don’t think the system is
Broken you need a clue
Look at 45
This our time
Someone tell me why
Do I feel like I’m losing my mind
I’m tired of writing out these tears of
Mine
Of feeling like I’m in a bind
And no matter how hard they may try
They can never take our pride
We have been taking on this
Fight for too long
And we are only growing
Stronger
And if I have to continue to
Scream and preach so
You believe
We been through hell and back
And we still stand tall
They keep expecting us to fall
But when I think of my people
I see no faults
